As a New Jersey native, stepping into the Hard Rock Hotel in Atlantic City felt like a breath of fresh air. The high, modern ceilings and polished marble floors immediately caught my eye, but it was the lively atmosphere that truly captivated me. The sounds of slot machines, laughter, and live music filled the air, creating an energy that was alive and welcoming. As I passed by displays of iconic memorabilia—Whitney Houston’s dress, Frank Sinatra’s suit, and Prince’s Lovesexy Tour costume—I felt a renewed excitement about Atlantic City.
Formerly the Trump Taj Mahal, the Hard Rock Hotel was completely revamped before reopening in June 2018. Our room, number 3602, was a refreshing surprise. The modern, sleek design featured a king-size bed, clean lines, and elegant marble accents. The view from the window was unlike any I’d seen before in Atlantic City—truly breathtaking.
The room was spacious, offering the perfect place to relax after spending some time at the slot machines. The bathroom was equally impressive, with a floating vanity and a spacious shower wrapped in marble-style tiles with silver hardware.
One of the standout features of the Hard Rock Hotel is how it caters to music lovers. Guests can request a Crosley record player with a handpicked selection of vinyl records to enjoy in their rooms. If you prefer to create your own music, the hotel offers Fender guitars, complete with headphones and an amplifier, allowing you to have a private jam session.
Beyond the music-themed offerings, the hotel boasts a fully-equipped fitness center, an indoor pool, and spa services. And let’s not forget—you’re just steps away from the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, making it easy to enjoy a seaside escape.
After checking in, we were eager to explore the food court and were pleased to find plenty of healthy options. As vegetarians, we often struggle to find good choices, but the Hard Rock exceeded our expectations. We chose Chop & Toss, where we enjoyed a delicious grain bowl with quinoa, avocado, beans, tomatoes, banana peppers, and chipotle ranch dressing. It was so good that we decided the Hard Rock would be our new go-to hotel in Atlantic City.
For dessert, we stopped by Alexis Patisserie, indulging in lemon cake and chocolate mousse while enjoying the Atlantic City skyline from our room. It was the perfect way to unwind before heading out for dinner.

Dinner at Kuro, a modern Japanese restaurant, was the highlight of our stay. The ambiance was both trendy and intimate, with dim lighting and minimalist decor. We started with Miso Soup and a Green Goddess Salad, each bursting with fresh, authentic flavors. The charcoal-grilled avocado and tuna crispy rice were standout dishes, offering unique and memorable tastes.
The meal continued with chilled Hokkaido Scallop Sashimi, which was incredibly fresh and delicately balanced with yuzu gel and ginger. Every dish at Kuro impressed us, making it a must-visit restaurant.
Whether you’re dining with a partner or a group, Kuro is an ideal choice. The Hard Rock Hotel also offers a variety of other upscale dining options, including:
